CM Storm Quickfire Stealth

I first hesitated to profile the CM Storm Quickfire Stealth Mechanical Gaming Keyboard on my Site because to be quite frankly, i have not played a ton of Games with it. I bought this keyboard because i love keyboards. And i especially love the ones with Cherry MX Reds which give you a non tactile and almost silent feel when you push the keys. The rubberized finish on the CM Storm Quickfire stealth is nothing short of amazing. The Keycaps feel sturdy and durable. Cooler Master states that they are tested for 50 million keystrokes. Sounds good to me. As much as i absolutely love the design and craftsmanship that went into this keyboard, i’d still prefer to play games on the PC with a dedicated controller or something that gives me more of a Game-feeling, as for example the Razer Orbweaver does.

Impressions
As already stated, I love Gaming Mice but i rarely play them in the way i really could tell you if they are good for gaming. So just the feel of this Mouse is still great. I love the Material on it, the rubberized side is amazing and the clicking is very sensitive and light. It is no more my primary mouse as this role is now taken by the Logitech G500s, but i’d say this one is still number two in my ranking

Razer Orbweaver

Introduction
I am not a big PC Gamer at all. I started on a PC several years ago of course as most of us did (Leasure Suit Larry EGA Graphics Textparser anyone?) but switched over to consoles soon. But lately i found myself dabbling again into PC Gaming. Mostly because Steam makes it very easy and cheap to do so. And in order to game properly, you need the right tools, don’t you? Gaming Mice always attracted me so i figured why not try the Orbweaver as an alternative to my standard Keyboard.

Specifications

Release Date: 2013
Connector: USB 2.0
Cable Length: 200cm
Dimensions: 55 x 154 mm x 202 mm
Weight: 395g
Features: 20 fully programmable keys via the Synapse Software
Adjustable hand-, thumb-, and palmrest
Controls: 8-Way directional thumb pad
20 Mechanical Keys (Cherry MX Blue)

Impressions
Although i did not put this Controller through a lot of Gaming-Hours i love the way it takes me into the game. The normal Keyboard simply was not able to do this as i probably still align this too much with work. The Orbweaver does a fantastical job in making you feel you actually have a gamepad in hand and not typing on a keyboard. I’ll come back to this looking in usability and precision when i put more hours into actual gaming rather than just fiddling around with it.

What lurks in the dark?

This is just a short teaser for the next Series. It seemed fitting to continue the ControllerCult Site with the latest Controller i bought, after starting it with the very first one i used.

I had to buy this one mostly because my rekindled interest in playing PC Games. Especially “Banner Saga”, “Broken Age” and “The Stanley Parable”. Of course i still believe that playing with a mouse and keyboard only, my experience will be tainted. So I’ll try this Control-Pad instead. Watch out for more.
